Travelling by Train
The Dublin City – Galway City train link runs daily every 2 hours from Dublin’s Houston Station to Galway Ceannt Train Station. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours.
Please note there is no train station located in Cong, Mayo. Buses are available from Galway Ceannt Train Station to Cong, with a journey of approximately 1 hour.

From Shannon Airport to Ashford Castle:
There are no direct buses from Shannon Airport to Ashford Castle – you will need to take a bus from Shannon Airport to Galway Bus Station in Galway City and then take a transfer to Headford. Once you arrive in Headford, you will need to take another transfer to Cong in County Mayo. From Cong, you
will require a taxi or chauffeur service to travel to Ashford
Castle. Our taxi and chauffeur service recommendations are

Bus Éireann run the highest frequency of direct services to and from Shannon Airport.
From Dublin Airport to Ashford Castle:
Please note there is no direct bus transport from Dublin
Airport to Ashford Castle. To get from Dublin Airport to
Ashford Castle in Cong, you’ll need to take 3 bus lines: take
the 720 bus from Dublin Airport Zone 11 station to Galway
Coach station. Next, you’ll have to switch to the 456 bus and
finally take the 422 bus from Headford station to Cong station
Taxis in the area are limited, leading to potential extended wait times. Services like Uber don’t operate on the same
scale as other countries, so pre-booking is highly recommended.
